My beloved aunt who lived her entire adult life on Huey Street in South Bend, Mary Anne Woznicki Thompson (his sister), spoke much more often about my dad's large Woznicki family. I did not meet many of them, except my wonderful grandma, Cecelia Kitkowski Woznicki (who made the most scrumptious baked chicken), my grandpa, Casimir Woznicki, whom I remember taking pains regarding his alcoholism which he tried to hide from us, and my sweet aunts, Clara Kitkowski and her aunt, Stella Kitkowski, who lived together as "maiden aunts". They would bake the most dreadful sugarless cookies for we children when we would come to visit in the 1950's, but of course we ate them with smiles on our faces as we tried to stuff them under the cushions on the sofas, of course not realizing they would find them later!). They lived in a nice large home behind my grandparents smaller house on Linston Street in South Bend -- the house that had been Casimir's parents'. My aunt Mary Anne Woznicki, was born on March 17, 1918 and died October 16, 2000 from ovarian & colon cancer. Following a service at St. Stanislaus, she was buried at St. Joseph's Cemetery. her husband, Richard Thompson, followed her a few years later.
