SOUTH BEND Betty and Aloysius Gapinski of 1734 Thornhill Drive will celebrate their 60th anniversary with a blessing at 5:30 p.m. Mass on Thursday at St. Matthew Cathedral. Later they also will have a family get-together. Aloysius Gapinski and Betty Chmilewski married Nov. 6, 1948, at Holy Cross Catholic Church. They have two children, Gerald of West Bend, Wis., and Carol Downey of Granger. Another daughter, Cheryl Carr, is deceased. They have seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mr. Gapinski retired in 1991 as a supervisor after 15 years with the St. Joseph County Highway Department. Mrs. Gapinski retired in 1990 after 34 years with the former First Interstate Bank. They have lived in South Bend all of their lives.
