Arrangements under the direction of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus, GA.Mrs. Sandra "Jolene" Herczeg, 68, of Midland, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at her home where she was under the care of Gentiva Hospice.. Funeral services will be 10 am, Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at Striffler Hamby Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Frank Patterson will officiate. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 9, 2016 from 5 pm - 7 pm at Striffler Hamby Funeral Home, 4071 Macon Rd. Columbus, GA.
Mrs. Herczeg was born June 18, 1948 in Columbus, GA to Joseph N. Macon Sr. and Ilene L. Macon. She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph N. Macon Sr. and her son, Stephen J. Herczeg Jr. Survivors include: her spouse, Stephen Herczeg; Mother, Ilene Macon; Son, Chris Brennan (Vicki), daughter, Katie Herczeg, 4 grandchildren: Jacob, Ruby & Sam Brennan, and Carson Herczeg; brother, Joey Macon Jr. (Debby); and many other family and friends. Mrs. Herczeg was a graduate of Baker High School, class of 1966. She had her R.N. degree and worked in various hospital settings throughout the United States due to being a military spouse, but retired in 2010 as the health services administrator of Rutledge State Prison through the Medical College of Georgia. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and both her faith and family were dear to her.
