On Aug. 9, 1886, Rev. Val Czyzewski, Rector of St. Hedwig Catholic Church in South Bend, Indiana, married Rosalia Pianowski and Joseph Kendziorski. (image of original county record, familysearch.org)
According to the 1900 census record of South Bend, Joseph Kendziorski, a painter, and his wife Rose were both born in Poland. He had immigrated in 1878, and she, in 1884. Rose had five children all living at home (in birth order): Helen, Agnes, Zofia/Sophia, Jadwiga/Hedwige, and Joseph. His mother, Catherine Kendziorski, 67, born in Poland, a widow, was living with them.
Joseph died in 1909, and Rose died in 1914.
South Bend News-Times, Sat., Aug. 22, 1914, p. 9:
"Mrs. Rose Kendziorska, aged 50 years, died Saturday (sic)* at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Stanley Partyka of Chicago, Ill., where she had gone for a visit. Her death was caused by dropsy. The remains arrived here this afternoon and were conveyed to the home of her daughter, Mrs. Agnes Niedbalska, 318 S. Chestnut st. She is survived by four daughters and one son: Mrs. Sophia Partyka, Mrs. Hedwige Nowak of Chicago and Joseph. The funeral will probably be held from St. Hedwige's Catholic church. Burial will be made in Cedar Grove cemetery."
South Bend News-Times, Mon., Aug. 24, 1914, p. 8:
"The funeral of Mrs. Rose Kendziorska...was held this morning from the residence of her daughter, Mrs. John Niedbalski, 132 S. Chestnut st., to St. Hedwige's Catholic church. The burial was made in Cedar Grove cemetery."
*The Cook Co., Illinois death records indicate that Rozalia Kendziorski, 50, a widow, daughter of Joseph "Pyanowski", died Aug. 21, 1914 in Chicago, informant: S. "Partzka".
