MISHAWAKA - Donna VanOoteghem, 69, of Mishawaka, passed away on March 4th in her residence. Donna was born in Germany on May 29, 1946, to Peter & Justine Swilo. She graduated from Washington High School as part of the class of ‘64. On June 27, 1964, she married David L. VanOoteghem. He preceded her in death on June 1, 2009. Donna retired from School City of Mishawaka in 2006 after 27 years. Donna is survived by her children, Debbie VanOoteghem of Chicago, IL, and David VanOoteghem of Osceola, IN. She was the proud grandmother of 2, Kyle & Ryan VanOoteghem. Donna is also survived by a sister, Helen Knappenburger of Granger, IN. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a brother, Joe Swilo. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, March 8th, from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm in the Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main St., Mishawaka. A service celebrating Donna's life will be held at 1:00 pm, with Msgr. Bruce Piechocki officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at the Fairview Cemetery of Mishawaka.
