PLYMOUTH - Aloysius “Al” Wojcik, age 84, passed away on Thursday, September 7, 2017 at home with his loving family by his side. Al was born on June 6, 1933 in Plymouth, Indiana at his family home to George F. and Mary (Skalka) Wojcik. On February 9, 1963 Al married the former Rita Falkowski in a ceremony in Chicago, Illinois. Al enjoyed farming, working for Pioneer Seed and Marshall County Highway Department in the sign department for 17 years. Al played softball when he was younger. He was a proud White Sox and Green Bay Packers fan. He enjoyed LOTTO and gardening, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family. Al was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Farm Bureau, West High Alumni Association and graduate of West High School class of 1952 as well as the St. Michael Catholic Church. Al honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Left to cherish Al’s memory is his loving wife, Rita Wojcik of Plymouth, Indiana; his son, Mark (Theresa) Wojcik of Plymouth, Indiana, David (Annette) Wojcik of Plymouth, Indiana Beverly (Jeff) Lawson of Marcellus, Michigan, Karen Gibbons of Bourbon, Gary Wojcik of Plymouth; Joyce (Michael) Poskin of Schererville, Indiana and Erica Borys of Plymouth, Indiana; Al was also blessed with 14 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Rose Ringer of Plymouth, Indiana and Mary (Chuck) Witz of Plymouth, Indiana; Al is preceded in passing by his parents, daughter-in-law, Sandra, 3 sisters, Anna, Stella, and Helen, his 6 brothers, Frank, Wally, Ed, Joe, Stanley and John. The Van Gilder Funeral Home is honored to be caring for the Wojcik family. A funeral in honor of Al will be held on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 in the St. Michael Catholic Church, 6112 N. Center Street Plymouth, Indiana 46563 at 10:00 a.m. EST with Fr. John Korcsmar officiating. Burial will follow the service in the New Oak Hill Cemetery. A time of visiting with the Wojcik family will be held on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 in the Van Gilder Funeral Home, 300 West Madison Street Plymouth from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. EST. The Wojcik family requests memorial contributions are made to the Donor’s Choice.
