Karl John Conjalka, 40, of New Carlisle, Indiana, passed away on Monday, December 26, 2005, in his home. Karl was born on September 8, 1965, in South Bend, Indiana, and was a lifelong area resident. He graduated from New Prairie High School in 1984, where he was a member of the jazz and marching bands. On August 11, 1984, he married Dawn R. Luhrsen, who survives. Along with his wife of 21 years, he is survived by his daughter, Kari A. Conjalka of Mishawaka, Indiana; his mother, Betty A. Conjalka of LaPorte, Indiana; his sister, Patricia A. (Joseph) Jones of Westminster, Colorado; two brothers, Charles A. (Connie) and Alan A. Conjalka, both of LaPorte; and his grandmother, Sophie Wozniak of LaPorte. He was preceded in death by his father, Carl A. Conjalka. Karl was self-employed for 20 years for Karl's Hauling. He enjoyed driving in demolition derby competitions. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today, December 29, 2005, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 201 S. Filbert Street, New Carlisle, Indiana. Funeral services for Karl will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, December 30, 2005, in the funeral home, with burial to follow at New Carlisle Cemetery. NEW CARLISLE -- Karl John Conjalka, 40, died Monday in his home. The cause of death is being investigated by the St. Joseph County coroner's office. Survivors include his wife, Dawn R. (Luhrsen); a daughter, Kari A. Conjalka of Mishawaka; his mother, Betty A. Conjalka of LaPorte; a sister, Patricia A. Jones of Westminster, Colo.; and two brothers, Charles A. and Alan A., both of LaPorte. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Kaniewski Funeral Home, New Carlisle, where friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday
