MISHAWAKA - Lorraine Alwine, 81 years old, residing in Mishawaka, Indiana passed away at 8:20 PM Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at Hospice House, South Bend, Indiana surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 5, 1935 in Topeka, Indiana to the late Truman and Mary (Woodworth) Oesch. After graduating from Topeka High School she then moved to South Bend and worked at Studebaker Corp. There she met her future sister-in-law who introduced her to the love of her life, James. On April 23, 1955 at First Church of God, Mishawaka, Lorraine was united in marriage to James A. Alwine. They enjoyed 61 years of marriage. James passed away three months ago, on March 5, 2016. Lorraine is survived by her three children, Louanne (Randy) Zima, Susan Dosmann and Scott (JoAnn) Alwine all of South Bend; seven grandchildren, Andrew, Jacob, Amanda, Greg Jr., Alison, James and Lauren; three great grandchildren, Luke, Annabelle and Addison; her sister, Phyllis Hartzler of Topeka; and one brother, Ron Oesch of Lakeville. Lorraine served as church organist for many years at Mishawaka First Church of God; Michiana Community Church of God, Granger; and Miami Village Church, South Bend. A celebration of Lorraine's life will be held at 12:00 Noon, Monday, June 20, 2016 at Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend, IN. Rev. Liz VanCamp, pastor of Miami Village Church, will officiate. Friends may visit with the family from 4:00 - 7:00 PM Sunday and from 11:00 AM Monday until time of services on Monday in the funeral home.
