WARSAW -- Viola F. (Thomas) Lisdat, 79, of 3138 S. 450 W., died at 7:20 p.m. Monday (June 23, 2008) in Grace Village Health Care, Winona Lake. She was born Dec. 25, 1928, in Kosciusko County to Claude M. and Frances (Harley) Thomas. On Sept. 6, 1958, she married Erich E. Lisdat in First Baptist Church, Mentone. He survives along with one sister, Kathryn (Roger) Greenawalt of Nappanee; and one brother, Robert L. (Edna) Thomas of Warsaw. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Dorothy Hepler, Gladys Cline, Helen Ross and Ethel Dossen; three brothers, Galen Thomas, Glen Thomas and Russell Thomas; and one half-sister, Laura Schutz. Mrs. Lisdat was a 1947 graduate of Etna Green High School, a 1952 graduate of Baptist Bible Institute, Grand Rapids, Mich., and a 1953 graduate of the Moody Bible Institute. She worked at Etna Elevator for more than 20 years until 1971. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church, a farmer and homemaker and loved hunting for deer and mushrooms.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church, 301 N. Broadway St., Mentone. The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church with Pastors Michael Wilhite and Bryan Balasa officiating. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Bourbon.
