Anna Rose Leitz

NILES, MI - Anna Rose Leitz, 87, of Niles and formerly of Dowagiac, passed away on Friday, December 7, 2018, with her loving family by her side. Anna was born on July 6, 1931, to the late Carl and Mary Jablonsky in Chicago, Illinois. In 1950 Anna graduated from Hartford High School and served as the class valedictorian. On September 2, 1950, Anna wed Walter Leitz. Anna worked beside her husband on their fruit farm in Eau Claire since 1955. She was a member of the Indian Lake Women's Auxiliary for about 40 years and spent many years in the Women For Survival of Agriculture group. Anna was a longtime member of Holy Maternity of Mary Catholic Church in Dowagiac. Through the years she enjoyed many activities including bowling, golfing, puzzles, and reading. She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers; two sisters; grandson, Kevin Ostrowski; and son-in-law, Phillip Morgan. Anna is survived by her husband of 68 years, Walt; children, Sharon Morgan of Adrian, Michigan, Sandy (Ron) Ostrowski of Niles, Mike (Lori) Leitz of Berrien Springs, Kurt Leitz of Dowagiac, and Tina (Lori Rose) Leitz of South Bend, thirteen grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and many extended family members and close friends. A Memorial Service to honor Anna's life will be held at Mission Hills Memorial Chapel on Thursday, December 13, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. with a time of visitation for two hours prior. Those wishing to do something to honor Anna are encouraged to have a Memorial Mass said in her name at St. Mark Catholic Church of Niles or the parish of their choosing.
