Notes for LUCIAN S FRANCKOWIAK:

FRANCKOWIAK, LUCIEN S

     Born 23 Apr 1903 St Paul MN; died 17 Jan 1984, age 79 of Fountainview Place, Mishawaka at 1 p.m. having been ill for several months. He was the President of the former Franckowiak's Furs Inc, retiring in 1972 after 50 years. The firm was founded in 1911 by his father Charles Franckowiak at 203 N Main.  In 1926 he moved to 314 N Michigan.  On 30 Jun 1936 he married Rose Manuszak who died 31 Oct 1971. Survivors include a sister, Mrs Helen Elliott, a nephew Dr Charles H of Waterford MI, Thomas M Elliott of Harland Wisc and a brother, L Chester.

 

**Per phone conversations with Lucien;

His great great grandfather was Sebastian [Mateusz] Franckowiak who was a fur craftsman. His grandfather, Antoni Franckowiak came from Poznan Poland, 20 miles s. of Bonien, with a brother and his father.  They went to Winnipeg Canada. the  father & brother traveled to Ottawa Canada. His grandfather Antoni had 3 sisters: Hedwig,

Franciska and Joanus. His mother died 23 Apr 1904. Lucien's mother's surname was Froelich; maternal grandmother was Mary Sobota who came from Cierocrieca Poznan Poland.
