Michael Klysz a leading merchant on So. Chapin Street died at 9:45 am Sunday Morningat his residence at 910 Perkins St. He had suffered for 14 years with Rheumatism and about three months ago lung trouble developed. He was born September 28, 1851 in Polish Germany and came to South Bend 29 years ago in 1870. For 12 years he had conducted a drug business on So. Chapin street. He leaves a wife, the former Josephine Drajus and seven children Bert, Lane, Pelgia, Lottie, John, Tola, and Teddy. He had been married for 21 years. The funeral will take place at 9:00 am Wednesday at St Hedwig Church. Rev Father Czyzenski will officiate. The remains will be laid to rest at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Notre Dame, IN.

Delphine was born on August 10, 1916, in South Bend, to the late Leonard and Clara (Brzezinski) Klysz. On May 16, 1936, she married Frank J. Mezykowski, who passed away on November 3, 2006. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Hildegarde Klysz; and by an infant brother, Leonard Klysz. She is survived by her two children, William Mezykowski of South Bend and Madeline (Tom) Marosz of Edwardsburg, MI; two grandchildren, Jennifer (Bob) Pinkowski of Edwardsburg, and Jeffrey Marosz and his fiancée Kim Karpinski, both of Dallas, TX; and by her great-grandson, Zachary Pinkowski. Delphine was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church where she was involved in the Rosary and Altar Society. She was also a member of Hoosier Grandmothers. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. on Monday, March 2, 2009, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. SOUTH BEND - Frank J. Mezykowski, 92, died at 6:45 a.m. Friday in Healthwin Nursing Home. Survivors include his wife, Delphine (Klysz); a daughter, Madeline Marosz of Edwardsburg; a son, William of South Bend; and a brother, Casimer of South Bend. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Holy Cross Catholic Church. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Road, where a rosary will be said at 3 p.m.

 

Frank J. Mezykowski

Frank J. Mezykowski, 92, of South Bend, passed away at 6:45 a.m. on Friday, November 3, 2006, in Healthwin Nursing Home.

 

Frank was born on October 8, 1914, in South Bend, to William and Theophilia (Brodzinski) Mezykowski. His parents have preceded him in death as well as sisters, Francis Huffard, and Bernice Ewald; and brothers, John and Alex.

 

On May 16, 1936, Frank married Delphine (Klysz). She survives along with their children, Madeline (Tom) Marosz, of Edwardsburg, Mich., and William, of South Bend; grandchildren, Jeff Marosz, Dallas, TX and Jenny (Bob) Pinkowski, of Granger; great-grandson, Zachary Pinkowski; and brother, Casimer Mezykowski, of South Bend.

 

Frank retired from Bendix after 37 years and from the South Bend Municipal Parking Garage after 10 years. He was a parishioner at Holy Cross Catholic Church for 65 years. He belonged to the VFW 8748, Bendix Local #9, and was an avid Euchre player. Frank was a person who enjoyed life.

 

Visitation will be on Monday, November 6, 2006, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, South Bend, where a Rosary will be prayed at 3:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 7, 2006, at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Cross Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend.
