SOUTH BEND - Mollie L.
Sokol, 93, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away Friday, June 15, 2007, in
Memorial Hospital of South Bend. Mollie was born on April 15, 1914, in South
Bend, to John and Bertha (Bukowski) Peczkowski. On July 3, 1937, Mollie married
Elmer A. Sokol, who preceded her in death on August 2, 1994. Mrs. Sokol was
very active in politics and was a member of the Republican Women's Association,
the Z.B. Falcons Ladies Lodge, the Altar Rosary Society of St. John the Baptist
Church, and the Sandpiper Cove Euchre Club. She was a charter member of the
Fraternal Order of Police Ladies Auxiliary #36, which she helped to organize
and in which she served as president in 1953. For her outstanding work and
contribution to the organization she was named the "Woman of the
Year" in 1954, being the first recipient of this annual award. Mollie was
instrumental in organizing and supporting her husband Elmer's election as Saint
Joseph County Sheriff in 1967. Surviving are her children, Marlene
"Mardi" Sexson and husband, Tobe of Felton, California, Kathleen
Miholich of Phoenix, Arizona, Ronald Sokol of Tokyo, Japan, and Dennis Sokol of
Arlington, Virginia; eight grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and a
great-great-granddaughter; a sister, Leona Jordanek of South Bend; and brothers,
John Peczkowski of South Bend and Bernard Peczkowski of Three Rivers, Michigan.
Her sister, Delores (Pajakowski), and brothers, Eddie and Danny, all of South
Bend, preceded her in death. Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday,
June 28, 2007, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend,
Indiana, where a parish Rosary will be prayed at 4 p.m. A Mass of Christian
Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, June 29, 2007, in St. John the
Baptist Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.

"Eddie" Peczkowski, 89, of South Bend, IN, passed away peacefully at
3:37 p.m. Sunday, November 13, 2005, in his home, with his loving family
present. Eddie was born on May 2, 1916, in South Bend, IN, to John and Bertha
(Bukowski) Peczkowski. He retired in 1982 from Modern Litho, Grand Rapids, MI,
where he was employed for ten years. He had also been employed with National
Correct Color for two years and with the former Studebaker Corporation for 28
years. On June 9, 1945, in South Bend, IN, he married Phyllis A. Ast, who
survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Linda S. (Raymond Jr.)
Vanderhulst of Bloomingdale, IL, Karen A. (Jeffrey) Smith of South Bend, IN,
and Marilyn (David) Mills of Lafayette, IN; fourteen grandchildren, Raymond

Betty J. Peczkowski,
78, of South Bend, IN, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family, at 4:35
p.m. Wednesday, May 3, 2006, in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend.
She was born on April
26, 1928, to the late Walter L. and Genevieve (Rybak) Lagocki in South Bend,
IN, and was a lifelong resident. Along with her parents, one brother, Ervin
Lagocki preceded her in death.
On April 22, 1950, as
Betty J. Lagocki, she married John J. Peczkowski at St. Hedwig Catholic Church
in South Bend, IN. He survives.
Along with her loving
husband, John of 56 years, she is survived by her four daughters, Carol (Jerry)
Grontkowski of Granger, IN, Susan (Bill) Spier of Rolling Prairie, IN, Gail
Peczkowski of River Forest, IL, and Sandy (Tim) Golichowski of Granger, IN;
four grandchildren, Erin and Jeff Grontkowski, and Luke and Hannah Golichowski;
one great grandson, Elliot; one sister, Gloria (Ernie) Piechocki of Kalamazoo,
MI; one sister-in-law, Betty Lagocki of South Bend, IN; and several nieces and
nephews.
Mrs. Peczkowski was a
member of Saint John the Baptist Parish. She graduated in 1947 from South Bend
Catholic High School. Betty enjoyed gardening, cooking, and all the delights
life could bring. She was a wonderful devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who
deeply appreciated all of life's beauty. Her husband, children, and
grandchildren were the light of her life, and she was the bright star of
theirs. All who knew her admired her graciousness, beautiful taste, her quick
wit, her infectious laugh, and the wonderful way she made people feel when they
were with her.
Visitation will be
from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, May 7, 2006 in Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 North Bendix
Drive, South Bend, IN, where a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 3:00 p.m.
A Mass of Christian
Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 8, 2006, in Saint John the Baptist
Catholic Church, with Rev. James Seculoff officiating. Burial will follow in
St. Joseph Cemetery.
