Notes for JOZEF ANDRYSIAK:

[Piech~52.ftw]

The Name Andrysiak comes from the first name Andrzej (the Polish version of "Andrew"), which over the centuries has appeared in Polish in many forms. To one of those forms, Andrys, the suffix -iak was added; it generally means "son of," so Andrysiak means "Andrew's son" (compare "Anderson" in English). Surnames formed from popular first names are quite common in Poland, so it's not surprising that this name is reasonably common -- as of 1990 there were 1,793 Polish citizens by that name. I don't see any particular pattern to the distribution, which makes sense: this name could get started anywhere they spoke Polish and had guys named "Andrew" who had sons.

The change to Andershock was probably just due to phonetics. Non-Poles found it hard to figure out how Andrysiak was pronounced, so someone started using a spelling that they could pronounce, one that still sounded similar to the Polish original. Andrysiak sounds kind of like "on-DRISH-ak," and if you said that out loud to an English-speaking person it could easily end up as "Andershock." This sort of thing happened to Polish names all the time, it's not unusual or surprising.

Catherine was struck by a cab on the corner of Arnold & Westeren Ave. Death apparently was caused by a severe crush wound when the hood ornement came in contact with her back. Catherine apparently tried to cross the street from between two parked cars.  The taxie driver swerved into Catherine when attempting to avoid another car. Her dark clothing hindered visability. No tickets or Charges were issued.

Oral History from Evelyn Slisz Piechorowski:

Granma talks about how Casper had difficulty showing affection (could be because of being abandoned by the second wife and Father) but the kidscould get him to do most anything when he had the money by soft soaping/coplimenting him (Did'nt Get That from his father) ....HE LOVED THROUGH THINGS AND ACTIONS....

Oral History from James Piechorowski:

I remembered when I was very little he made me a "BAG full of Wooden Blocks" and Carried me on his Shoulders ..He was a BIG 6 ft plus man and with his dark hair and bushy eyebrows he was scary...he intimidated me but I never sensed that he would hurt me ....

He taught Dad (Frank A. Piechorowski) how to hunt and fish (in those days for food not sport).... Casper worked at WHITE FARM (Oliver Corporation) for 25 years...so did my dad (35 yrs) and I worked there one summer!!!

We all worked for a time ...on the same Machine "A HOT HAMMER" and I mean the same one ... this was the one that the Die flew out and hit Granpa (Frank A.) in the knee in 1938/39 which started his knee problem ....when I worked on it every "FIVE HITS...You had to take a sledge hammer and beat the Die Keys in or it would come out and hit you."

HORRIBLE BURNS CAUSE BABY'S DEATH

-------------------------------

Child 13 months old victim of brother playing with fire.

Playing with fire in the absence of their mother, two children of Kasper Slisz, 430 Kosciusko Street, set fire to the clothing of their 13-month-old sister Wednesday evening, resulting in her death five hours later.  The death of the child ws reported to the city health department yesterday afternoon.

It appears that while the mother left the house on an arrand to a neighboing store the two children, two and four years respectivly, secured matches and putting paper in a stove in the sitting room, set it on fire.  The baby sitting on the floor near the stove communicated the fire in some way to its clothing and in a few moments was ablaze.  The older child ran from the house screaming and attracted the attention of neighbors who rushed in to find the child horribly burned.  The flames were smothered with a blanket and Dr. N. G. Borisowicz was summoned.  The child lived five hours.

The funeral was held this morning at 9 o'clock at St. Casimier's Catholic church, Rev. Anthony Zubowicz officiating.  Interment was in the St. Josephs Cemetery.

Notes for VIRGINIA GLON:

Koch, Virginia G.

Jan. 9, 1923 - Sept. 8, 2008

SOUTH BEND - Today we lost our angel on earth to be our angel in heaven. Our beloved Virginia G. Koch (nee Glon) went to be with the God she so believed in. There is an emptiness in our hearts, but her memory will be with us always. Virginia was one of nine children born to Hattie G. Glon (nee Andrysiak) and Henry A. Glon. Preceding her in death were her parents, Hattie and Henry; her brothers, Theodore, Joseph, Frank, Casmier and Ben; sisters, Irene Szynski, Adeline Siders and Esther Heintzelman; and a nephew, Dean Heintzelman. Virginia worked at Bendix for 35 years before retiring. Virginia married the love of her life, Harold L. Koch, in September 1950. They had their own business, Lydick Tavern, for several years. They loved dancing and loved to travel and have been to almost all the states. Virginia was always busy. She did handwork, knit, crochet, needlepoint and ceramics. She took various classes, loved to read, garden and spend time with family. She was a Notre Dame fan and was able to see Notre Dame beat San Diego State. Virginia also liked to gamble. She loved to go to the boat, and if she won it was a great day, and if she lost, oh well, we had fun anyway. Her loving husband, Harold, survives along with nieces, Darlene Hite, Kathleen (Joe) Cornelis and Michaelene "Mickey" Lane; and a nephew, Joseph (Karen) Heintzelman. Darlene's children, Tim Austin of Texas, Christine Ann (David) Pilarski of Waunakee, WI, and Neal Patrick of Mishawaka; Kathleen's children, Melanie (Jim) Praklet of Edwardsburg, MI, and Jon (Gretchen) Cornelis of Granger, IN; Joseph's children, Leisa Heintzelman and Amy (Jeffrey) Dee of South Bend, Joel and Laura (Tony) D'Amico of Chicago, IL. Christine Ann's children, Adam, Alyssa, Amanda and Alex of Waunakee. Melanie's children, Justin, Rebekah, Moriah and Abigal Praklet of Edwardsburg, MI; Jon's children, Kaitlynn, Christian and Jeremiah Cornelis of Granger, IN; Joseph's children, Leisa Heintzelman and Amy (Jeffrey) Dee of South Bend, Joel Heintzelman and Laura (Tony) D'Amico of Chicago, IL; and Amy's son, Tate Heintzelman of Granger. Virginia was the guardian of her niece, Michaelene "Mickey" (Gerry) Lane. Mickey's children, April Suzanne and Eric Andrew (Trish) Lane, came to know Virginia and Harold as Grandma and Grandpa, and great-grandparents to April's children, Alexandra Bianca and Madeleine Louisa; and Eric's children, Jack Christian, Charles Andrew and Jensen Alexander Lane. Virginia was always there for us. Always there to listen, talk, to just hold a hand, or give a hug letting us know how much she loved us. She had a wicked sense of humor and almost never stopped moving. She was up before dawn, baked cookies, her famous "Robert Redford" cake, and her specialties of barbecued ribs and party potatoes. She had all her chores done before most people were even awake. Her Christmas dinners were something we looked forward to all year. Harold cared lovingly for Virginia during her illness and was a wonderful caregiver. He loved her dearly and was there for her tending to all her needs, with love, respect and dignity. We would like to thank The Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, for the wonderful care they gave Virginia and our family. Visitation for Virginia will be held from 4 to 8 PM Thursday, September 11, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM Friday in St. John the Baptist Church, with entombment to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend. Memorial contributions may be made to The Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637; or to Hello Gorgeous of Hope, 1130 Altgeld St., South Bend, IN 46614. Extract from Tape Recording Jean Slisz

It would appear that Cora's parents did not approve of educating daughters in the family. Cora attended Liddy Middleton School in Madison IN for a while but for the most part learned to read and write from her brothers at home . Cora got good grades in art and the genes appear to have passed to her daughter Jean. Cora loved to play baseball and could always be found with a bat in her hands, she appears to have been a Tomboy in her early years. When she was sixthteen her father withdrew her from school. Elkhart Truth April 20 1996 author: Marshall King

Casey Slisz will tell you that he made a mess of his life. He'll also tell you that he had a good life. Whatever he's had or done he's survived and more often than not singing a ditty as he works at Hart Housing Group in Elkhart.

The 58 year old Mishawaka resident has seen the inside of reform schools, jails and three Indiana prisons. Between 1946 and 1984 he spent 24 years behind bars.

He was eight years old when he burglarized Crystal Laundry in South Bend.

He got caught but " they did'nt get it all" he said....He gave his mother money for food for the family. But after she spent it on alcohol, he had a bowling alley pay him in food instead of 5 cents a frame for setting pins.

He spent time in Indiana Boys School in 1947 and four years in Whites Institute. At seventeen he enlisted in the Marines.

The next three decades were stints in prison because of his drinking, burglaries and assults "Anything an Old Drunk can get locked up for" he said.

Through it all his sisters stood by him.

In 1984 he shot a man in the back with birdshot, for which he went to prison. In 1987 he went to Westville Penitentiary and did'nt have a drink for two years. When he got out he never went back to the bottle.

" I made it through the first night and I said I don't need it !!!  When I stopped drinking I started feeling better about myself " .

His mother was an alcholic . Either his mother or Father tried to sell him for $1500 when he was 4 years old, he said. The other  went back and got him.

Casey does'nt blame anyone for what happened in his life..." I was eight years old, I was a thief. I knew it was wrong.

He's know been married to his wife, Janice, for 22 years. He performs at the American Legion posts singing everything from Waylon Jennings to Frank Sinatra.  " My Life is Good " He now says.

Editors Note Jim Piechorowski 8-5-2000

I met Casey for the first time in my life two weeks ago when he visted my home after answering a letter I sent to all know Slisz's in the Area. Aside from his sister he was the only one to answer. I was impressed with Casey's in your face honesty... he is what he is and what you see is exactly what you get.  But he has had the courage to take control of his Disease and a Day at a Time stay sober, support his wife and search for his family...

I like Casey and I hope he stays sober and finds peace in his life!

Obituary: Evelyn R. Piechorowski

March 13, 1916 -- May 21, 2004

Evelyn R. (Slisz) Piechorowski, 88, of Granger, Ind., passed peacefully away in her sleep at 10 p.m. Friday, May 21, in the Holy Cross Healthcare Center, Dugdale Road, Granger, where she had resided for the last few years.

Evelyn was born on March 13, 1916, in South Bend, Ind., to Kasper and Mary (Andrysiak) Slisz, who preceded her in death. On Aug. 5, 1939, she married Frank A. Piechorowski in St. Adalbert's Church in South Bend. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, on Dec. 15, 1985. Also deceased are three brothers, Edmund, Clem and Fred; and four sisters, Irene, Henrietta, Esther and Phyllis.

Evelyn is survived by her sister, Alice Maeyens of South Bend; her son, James F. (Sharon) Piechorowski of Elkhart, Ind.; and two grandchildren, Frank D. of Memphis, Tenn., and Devon D. of Mishawaka, Ind.

Evelyn and Frank were married for nearly 50 years, residing at Fir Road in Granger. They attended St. Pius X Church since moving to Granger in 1955. Their lives were punctuated by hard work, love of family and a zest for life. As a child of the Depression, Evelyn would feed any (man or beast) who wandered too near the home, and was renowned for always having that second turkey on hand for Thanksgiving Day if anyone was really hungry.

She adored her grandchildren and was always on hand when needed to wipe a tear or sing their praises. Her last years were hard but she is happy now in the presence of her God and the love of her husband.

Evie will be missed by all who had the good fortune to cross her path.

A formal Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Mom at St. Katherine's of Alexandria in Brzyskorzystew, Poland, the church of our ancestors.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 24, in THE ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 1827 E. Ireland Road, where a Rosary will be prayed at 8 p.m. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday morning, May 25, in the funeral home, followed by burial at St. Joseph's Cemetery, South Bend.

Oral History from Elsie:

They were introduced by Aunt Elsie when she was fifthteen.  She played basketball for St Adelbert's grade school.... Frank played ball on the men's team... Elsie and Evelyn used to go to dances and ZB Falcon's almost every Saturday night, and one night Elsie introduced them. Elsie's Husband Uncle Elmer was in CC Camp with Frank.

Oral History from Evelyn:

My mother used to say, when I was young, "That one's going to be a clean one", because when by the time I was old enough to pick up a rag, I was going around the house dusting.

When I first met Frank, he didn't turn me on, he came over at least 3 times that night and asked me to dance, but I came up with an excuse each time.  Several Saturdays after that he kept coming and asking me to dance, so finally I figured, what can it hurt, and I danced with him.  We had the rest of that evening.  He took me home and we made a date for next Tuesday because the Cole Brothers Circus was in town.  That was our first date.

When the depression hit he went into CCC Camp.

Oral History from Frank D Piechorowski:

He used to tell me stories of CCC camp.

He worked as a baker there.

He used to make the BEST pie crusts.  He would mix them up right on the counter top, no measuring... did it all by feel.  I remember he would take all the extra crust bits and cut them into strips and bake them with Cinnamon and sugar.  I can still taste them 20 years later.

Once, he and the boys snuck out of camp one night and raided a local watermelon field, they brought all the watermelons back to camp and hid them all in the ceiling.  The weight of the melons up there caused the ceiling to sag the commander noticed and had one of the men get a ladder and nail the ceiling back up.  Well of course the when he tried to nail it back up, he hit a watermelon and this red liquid started to drip down on the floor, the commander though they had a body up in the ceiling.  He said they got in SO much trouble.

In another, he told me of one way they would "Initiate" the new guys. They would come in, in the middle of the night, and have a "Short Arm Inspection".  One guy would act as the officer, and one as a doctor.  The "Doctor" would have a can of black shoe polish.  After they were "Inspected" they would get a dob of shoe polish on them.  Of course, as soon as they saw their "doctor" in the ranks with them they knew they had been had, but shoe polish can't be washed off... It has to wear off.

We know that Frank came to work for Ludwik (Uncle Louie) when his mother died, c. 1936

Oral History from Evelyn:

Kasper Slisz, Evelyn Father taught Frank how to hunt and fish, in that time for food, not for sport.

He married Evelyn and went to work for Oliver Corp.

Oral History from James:

1938/39 - A die fell out of the "Hot Hammer" at Oliver Corp and hit Frank in the knee, casuing the begining of his knee problems.

Frank was forced to retire from Oliver's in 1974 on disablility.

In 1964 James worked at Olivers on summer vacation on the same hot hammer

Frank took and purposed to Evelyn on Christmas eve, 1937.  He bought a box of chocolates and put the ring in the box for her to find.  When she opened the box she said "Ohhh Chocolate...", and was very disappointed because he had bought her candy for Valentines day.  She thought, but didn't say  "Am I ever going to be engaged to you?".  Frank could see that she was disapointed so he let her stew for a few days and called her back asking if she had eaten the candy yet. She said she had had a few pieces.  He told her to go have some more and tell him how she liked them... that's when she found the ring.

Frank Earned the money to buy both Evelyn's engagement ring and their wedding ring with the help of Ludwik (Uncle Louie).  Ludwik gave frank a plot of land on the farm that Frank was to grow and tend pickles on.  All the money that he made from the pickles is what he used to buy the rings.

Oral History from Frank D Piechorowski:

I remember a story that GrandPa (Frank A Piechorowski) told me.  When dad (James Piechorowski) was in grade school, he came home one day all proud and told his mom and dad "I get to be a 'Monitor'" in school, all happy and excited about this new resposibilty.  When he told Grandpa, he asked "Do you know what a Monitor is?", "No" said Dad, "It's a shit house tender." Dad wasn't quite so excited after that

Oral History  James Francis Michael Piechorowski 2-2-2001

Friday, September 25, 1942 4 pm  temp 30* and snowing "I was born" of Evelyn Piechorowski in Epworth Hospital (Memorial) South Bend In. Dad rode his Bike from Olivers in the snow to come and greet me as he did not own a car until the early 1950's.  I would imagine that Mom began her life long obsession of feeding me as soon as she was able to clutch a bottle that same day. The doctors had to finally step in and  stop her as I grew into a Fat little Guy to quickly. I have always attributed my life long battle with weight to moms insistance on force feeding anyone who entered the house. I spent my early years at 1417 Van Buren St South Bend In, attending Holy Cross Grade School, playing football which I was never very good at, and being forced to try to play the accordian which I hated and was even worst at. However I did survive and in 1955 we moved from South Bend to 52166 Fir Rd in Granger were the family home remains to this date.

In 1956 I attended Washington Clay High School where I was a fair to Middle student, did some Wrestling which I liked "Team Captain" and discovered Girls which has been the " love of my  life".   But life was good and I would'nt trade or change a minute for all the money in the world.

I graduated from Clay in 1960 middle of the class and went to IUSB where I nearly fluncked out until I was assured by the dean of men that I could get my act together or be certain that Siagon would be beautiful in the Spring. in addition dad put me to work at Olivers and insured that  I had every crap job in the plant. You could always find me where it was hottest and dirtyest for the summer of 1962. I was on the honor role for three years after that experience never dropping below a 3.6 and nearly getting a 4.0 on an 18 hour load which was spoiled by a ROTC instructor who gave me a B+ for missing a parade.

I loved IU Bloomington joined Sigma Phi Epslion Social Fraternity "Like I needed to be more social" and met and married your mother Patricia Lee Duncan in 1965 who was the great love of my early life.

I finished under and grad school and went to work for Whirlpool in 1965, in 1973 I switched to Miles Laboratory where I have worked ever since. Frank came along in St Joe Michigan in 1966 and Devon followed him in Constantine Mi in 1976. The two of you have given meaning and substance to my life. I hope you will remember me as at least having tried to do my best and never / ever thought of deserting you irrespective of the circumstances we found before us . I love / loved you both dearly.

Patricia and I divorced in 1978 and in about a year I remarried Carolyn Humphery in South Bend. The difficulties of trying to put two families together was more than we were able to handle and the marrige ended in 1984. I wish her well

In 1987-88 after four years of Disco Duck  and Ski Bumming I met and married Sharon Louise Metzler who cleaned up my act and lets me think I am running the operation. If I had a buck for every "Yes Dear" which somehow always ends up the way Sharon intended it I would be retired on the beach in St Thomas. After 13 years I have managed to hang on to this one and life is good.

Notes for WALTER SZYNSKI:

Obituary: Walter S. Szynski Jr.

July 16, 1939 -- Sept. 4, 2005

Walter S. "Wally" Szynski Jr., 66, of North Liberty, IN, passed away Sunday, Sept. 4, 2005, surrounded by his loving family. Wally fought a long and courageous battle with systemic sclerosis, a form of scleroderma.

Wally was born July 16, 1939, in South Bend, to the late Walter S. and Irene (Glon) Szynski. In 1961, he married the former Sandra K. Szucs, who survives along with the children Wally was so very proud of, Tammi (Ron) Hamilton of North Liberty, Tina (Kevin) Hawk of Cape Coral, Florida, Lisa (Victor) Vukovits of North Liberty and Brent (Robin) Szynski of Granger. Wally had 12 grandchildren who loved him very much. Ronnie (a special angel for all of his help), Nolan and Carley Hamilton, Lance, Tyler and Conner Hawk, Blake, Loren and Jack Vukovits, Skylar, Camryn and Bradyn Szynski. Through his illness, the grandchildren would do whatever they could to help him by keeping him company and getting him whatever he needed when he couldn't do it himself. For the past 10 years, every Friday was family dinner night at Grandma and Grandpa's. Grandpa loved having the grandkids around, but when it was eight o'clock, he would yell "Curfew" and it was time to go home. We are so thankful that we had this special time together as a family. Also surviving are Wally's three sisters, Barbara J. Toth and Cecilia J. (Joseph) Cowsert of South Bend, Elizabeth S. (Michael) Kozloski of Granger, Uncle Frank "Bill" and Irene Szynski, and Aunt Virginia (Harold) Koch of South Bend, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Wally graduated from Washington High School in 1957, and joined the U.S. Marine Corps, stationed in California for three years as a combat engineer. In 1960 he joined the South Bend Police Department and was promoted to detective sergeant in 1971. During his police career he received many commendations, awards and he was a marksman. After 21 years on the police force, Wally retired. Wally worked several part-time jobs, helped Sandy with her photo business and helped to build the North Liberty Youth League baseball park. Wally was an avid sports fan, especially Notre Dame. He said that he wanted to see one more Notre Dame football game, and he did. Thank you, Notre Dame, for winning on Saturday night.

Through your life, you meet wonderful and caring people. The family would especially like to thank Doctors David Varner, Brent Mohr (and Angie) and Walter Filipek (and Chrissy), Michael J. Anderson, Atty., Marilyn Wuthrich and Terri Wise of Martin's, the North Liberty Volunteer Ambulance Service and Aunt Dovie for the potato soup he loved so much.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today, Sept. 7, in Palmer Guisinger Funeral Home, 3718 S. Michigan Street, South Bend. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, in the Palmer Guisinger Chapel, officiated by Donald Cornelius, chaplain of the Fraternal Order of Police #36 and Captain Ed Friend of the South bend Police Department. Military graveside services will follow at Sumpton Prairie Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the North Liberty Volunteer Ambulance Service, 310 S. Street, North Liberty, IN 46554; or to the National Organization for Rare Disorders, 55 Kenosia Ave., PO Box 1968, Danbury, CT 06813.

Janicki, Judy Ann

July 14, 1940 - Aug. 1, 2008

GRANGER - Judy Ann Janicki, 68, passed away at 5 a.m. on August 1st in her home with her loving husband by her side after a courageous two-and-half-year battle against cancer. The youngest of four siblings, Judy was born on July 14, 1940, in South Bend, to David and Elizabeth Whiteman, both of whom preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death was her youngest beloved son, Jack. On September 5, 1959, she married the love of her life, Richard S. Janicki, who survives. Richard and Judy shared 48 years and 11 months of love and commitment to each other and their family. It was Camelot the whole trip. Along with her husband, Richard, other survivors left to cherish her memory include her children, Kymerly Lawton (Janicki) and her husband, L.J., Scott Janicki, and his wife, Debra, David Janicki and his wife, Janie, and Jill Toews (Janicki) and her husband, Rick. Also surviving are her 10 beloved and cherished grandchildren, Louis and Robert Lawton, Zachary, Lauren and Joshua Janicki, Victoria Bruce, Bo and Jasmine Janicki, Riley and Grady Toews, respectively. Also surviving are her brother, James Bay of California, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and a host of loving relatives and friends, and her new puppy, Baxter. Judy had achieved many personal accomplishments. Among them she oversaw the daily operation of the family's horse farm in Wakarusa, IN, for over 15 an 25 purebred, registered Arabians. An accomplished horsewoman herself, Judy won numerous awards throughout the Midwestern United States and helped other riders and enthusiasts perform to their personal best. Judy was also an avid and accomplished golfer whose passion for the game along with her skill enabled her to win the club championship at her country club in Florida. She thoroughly enjoyed both the competition and companionship of her many friends and teammates for the KCC Ladies 18-hole Golf League at the Knollwood Country Club, Granger, IN. She was a graduate of Riley High School and Indiana University of South Bend, IN, where she made the Dean's List during several semesters. He kindness, beautiful smile, forgiving nature, and easy-going personality will never be forgotten by those who love her. Judy was a kind, gentle and compassionate lady who spent her zest for life in the service of those she so passionately loved. An accomplished cook, Judy knew how to feed not only the body but the spirit and soul as well. She was a master seamstress who loved to sew, knit and crochet. She also loved to draw and paint, was an avid reader, and thoroughly enjoyed a good glass of red wine at the end of the day! How do I love Thee? Let me count the ways/.... Judy Ann was Dick's wife, lover, girlfriend, best friend, golf buddy, mentor, baker, cook, golf, swing instructor, part-time secretary, and the mother of their five beautiful children. She was a true lady. She was his port in a storm, his sunshine every day, his riding instructor, dancing partner, and gentle critic. She was the absolute joy of his life throughout their lives together. And their life together was, as all of their family knew and most friends recognized, a unique, true love story. Prior to her passing, Judy asked that in, lieu of flowers, contributions be made to Center for Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Joseph County, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637; to The Regional Autism Center at Logan Community Resources of South Bend, 2505 E. Jefferson Blvd., South Bend, in honor of her grandson, Bobby; or to the YWCA Women's Shelter of St. Joseph County, 1102 Fellows St., South Bend, IN 46601. Family and friends may leave e-mail condolences at welshfh@yahoo.com. The family thanks and is especially grateful to Dr. Rafat Ansari, Toni and all of the hospice nurses and aides, especially Paula, Kelly and Amber for their loving and compassionate care of Judy during her courageous battle with cancer. Judy's family invites you to join them in celebration of her life at Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Road, South Bend, today, Sunday, Aug. 3rd, from 2 to 6 p.m. A Catholic Mass in memorial of Judy will be celebrated on Monday, August 4, at 9:30 a.m. in the University of Notre Dame Basilica of the Sacred Heart. A procession will leave Welsheimer's Funeral Home at 9 a.m. Judy will be laid to rest at Southlawn Cemetery in South Bend next to her son, Jack. Rest now our beloved wife, mother and grandmother. Our collective hearts ache with loss, and as we pray for your eternal peace, we take comfort in the knowledge of those who have welcomed you back home.
