SOUTH BEND - Julia Arch, 91, of West Dubail Street, passed away at 10 p.m. Thursday, May 29, 1997, in the Ironwood Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on Feb. 28, 1906, in South Bend to Stephen and Barbara Rebics. Julia was employed by the former Wilson Bros. and by Bendix. On Aug. 9, 1924, in Our Lady of Hungary Catholic Church, as Julia Rebics, she married Alex Arch. He died on Dec. 9, 1979. Surviving are three daughters, Mary Piller and Margaret Smigielski, both of South Bend and Yolanda Roush of Plymouth; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Julia was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Alex Arch Jr., one grandchild, one great-grandchild, two sisters, Elizabeth Smith and Mary Rebics; and three brothers, Joseph, Frank and Steve Rebics.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 2 at Our Lady of Hungary Church at 10 a.m. Entombment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Friends may call at the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1816 S. Kemble Ave., today, June 1, from 3 to 7 p.m. A rosary will be recited at 4:30 p.m. today by the St. Ann Society and the Sacred Heart and Rosary Society. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Hungary Church repair fund. Mrs. Arch was a member of the church and the St. Ann Society.

SOUTH BEND - Alexander Arch, 70, of South Taylor Street, South Bend, Ind., died at 8:50 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 9, in Hospice House, South Bend. Mr. Arch was born on Feb. 4, 1927, and lived in South Bend all of his life. He retired from RACO. Mr. Arch was a Navy veteran of World II.He is survived by a daughter, Cheryl (Paul D.) Bittle of South Bend; a son, Alexander S. (Katherine) Arch, of Ft. Worth, Texas; his mother, Julia Arch of South Bend; two grandsons, Alexander S. Arch, Jr., and Paul Bittle; four granddaughters, Tammy L. Cain, Dawn A. Guzowski, Christy-Lynne M. Arch and Amanda L. Bittle; one great-grandson, Zachary Cain; three sisters, Mary Pilar and Margaret Smigielski, both of South Bend, and Yolanda Roush of Plymouth, Ind.

Services will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday at Our Lady of Hungary Catholic Church. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday in the St. Joseph Funeral Home, where a rosary will be said at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice House, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637.
